If...

The iPhone > Settings > Send and Receive has the Number unticked (it happens sometimes) then the number will eventually de-register from the iMessages server.

This will then unlink from the Apple ID. Strangely it seems the iPhone works the Apple ID as an alternative rather that a sync which means it gets the iMessages but the sync is actually broken so the Mac gets nothing.


If you are getting new iMessages on the Mac then there is no way to 'recover' the missing iMessages.
