first we need that scenery ... which, actually, is on your harddrive! ...:
goto your Macs library/Application support/iDVD/Themes/iDVD3/ ...
(lots of clicks....)
there, you see a file called 000_Theater.theme (you smell the curtain ....)
now, ctrl-click/choose 'show package', let's click again...:
contents/resources/ backgroundMovie.NTSC.mov << yepp, THAT is the nice curtain from the 'Theater'template from iDVD ....
to add a picture or a movie INTO that 'stage' need some advanced skills in FCE... you could try a 'luminance key', but scenery contains too much black on my behalf....
but at 000_Theater.theme/contents/resources you'll find DropZone.pox, a ctrl_click shows you Contents/Material/ and finally a file called 1BBA5D50-0F16-11D7-B18B-0003939BA86A (yepp, VERY cryptical... we are digging very deep...) THAT is the according key-mask for that theater theme, you could use in FCE as a mask-layer to add any content to that theater...
you need to open that file with QTpro and export as dv-stream to allow FCE to open it ...

this is really beyond 'appentice' level ... but when you own FCE, you should know the many options of layer-handling... 😉
WARNING
don't 'move' any of these files - work only with copies of it... you could seriously 'damage' your installed iDVD...!
